C-T “Pits” New World Screwworm Treatment Trailer
What is "Pits"? PITS stands for the Prevention, Identification, and Treatment of the New World Screwworm
We had an enthusiastic response to our first showing of the C-T "PITS" New World Screwworm Treatment Trailer at the Texoma Beef Conference on August 20, 2026. The event took place at the Vashti Community Center in Bellevue, TX.
Take NW Screwworm treatments to the cattle while they are still in the pasture.
Capabilities and Features
- One-Person Operation: Safe squeeze chute handling inside a covered trailer.
- Complete Care: Apply preventative treatment (including Dip), identify infestations, and treat screwworms.
- Versatile: Works for most calves, cows, and bulls.
- Extra Utility: Allows for palpations without purchasing additional equipment.
Project Status: Non-Commercial Research & Community Initiative
This trailer is being built as a functional proof-of-concept prototype developed strictly for screwworm inspection research, field testing, and biosecurity support. This unit is not a commercial product, is not for sale, and our team does not profit from its design or deployment. Instead, we are sharing our findings and modular design concepts to assist ranchers, wildlife officials, and the agricultural community in combating the screwworm threat.
